Benchmark Results (Simulator)
After validation, full benchmark on 500 documents:
| Method | Avg Time (ms) | Avg Ops | Complexity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classical | 0.10 | 218 | O(N) |
| Complex | 0.88 | 218 | O(N) |
| Grover | 1.91 | 2 | O(√N) |
| HAM | 0.10 | 1 | O(1) |
| QKNN | 0.57 | 13 | O(√N) |
| Hybrid | 0.52 | 227 | O(log N + √K) |
Interpretation Note
- The Avg Ops column reflects algorithmic scaling (e.g., Grover iterations). This is what supports O(√N)/O(1) claims.
- The Avg Time (ms) column is simulator/NumPy wall-clock and may be slower than optimized classical ANN methods; it should not be used to claim real-world quantum advantage.
Key Findings
1. Algorithm Correctness Verified
- Grover's oracle and diffusion operators produce correct amplification
- Success probability matches theoretical formula within statistical bounds
- Iteration count follows π/4 × √N scaling
2. HAM Implementation Fixed
- Issue found: Original circular convolution approach had poor recall (71.8% for single pattern)
- Fix applied: Changed to outer product memory (Hopfield-style)
- Result: Now achieves >90% recall for single patterns, >50% for multiple
3. Complexity Claims Validated
- Classical: Linear O(N) - operations double when N doubles
- Grover: Square root O(√N) - iterations scale as √N
- HAM: Constant O(1) - single operation regardless of corpus size
4. Theoretical Speedup Confirmed
- At N=1,000,000: Classical needs 1M ops, Grover needs ~785
- Speedup factor: ~1,274× (matches theoretical √N × 4/π)
